  3. Winner of an Extra Bones Drawing Challenge at Cass Art, Islington (6); Victor!

Our appraisal; rather than depict a myriad seaside impossibilities, as was the way with some other high quality entries, this landscape is one of pure psychological bafflement. The figure awakes, wordless, aghast at the trail before him; only the tail of the beast is still visible, jet black against the bright sand, but the figure’s gaze stares at the start of the footprints, emerging from nothing in the middle of the beach

  4. Winner of an Extra Bones Drawing Challenge at Cass Art, Islington (5); Nick!

Our appraisal; Points have been awarded here for effort – but don’t think that means this is the work of a tireless brute, eschewing sunlight and human contact to etch inexorably into the tortured wall of his voluntary prison. This is a labour of love, and no little skill, the baroque scrawlmanship wafting elegantly across the page like a miasma of curlicues from the arcane pipe of a Warhammer 40,000 Eldar magus.

  6. Winner of an Extra Bones Drawing Challenge at Cass Art, Islington (4); Dylan!

Our appraisal; Here we have an uncompromising portrayal of the feral, gin-soaked intensity (isolated in his genius, central in a white void) of a man who borrows £20 from the owner of the bed he just rolled out of, and goes straight to his easel to empty out his imagination onto the canvas like a bag of inscrutable, metamorphosing junk. How many arts will he produce today? None, or a bajillion?

  7. Winner of an Extra Bones Drawing Challenge at Cass Art, Islington (3); Shelina!

Our appraisal; Highly uncanny. Certain elements of the drawing have even been rendered transparent, so as to better depict the subject. See-through hair reveals two ears, not one, etc… Rather than depict what this artist does have, through a process of elimination, all the other famous artists can all be discounted by what they dont have. Actually, it does look more like Pollock that who it’s supposed to be… anyway, highly uncanny, stare into those eyes.

  8. Winner of an Extra Bones Drawing Challenge at Cass Art, Islington (2); Owain!

Our appraisal; When a tattoo design is as powerfully haunted and hauntingly powerful as this, there is no need for intricate embellishment to raise the price. Very few will attempt to carry out the tattooing of this image, and only for a very high price indeed, this goes beyond an exchange for skill and time, something deeper, darker is claimed from the artist… There are obviously a couple of very rare fluro inks used here too.

  9. Winner of an Extra Bones Drawing Challenge at Cass Art, Islington (1); Libby!

Our appraisal; This is the kind of horse drawing that makes you wana rear up and neigh. Energetic strokes impassionate the irresistible power of le cheval coquin (the naughty horse) but all bets are off as to what this wild eyed beast will do next. Looking at this drawing I felt as if I was about to be bodily thrown across the room by it, but I grasped the reins tighter and galloped into a distant corner of my mind where the horse-lords dance and drink by firelight and take their women gently within an infinite cavern of stars.
